Class Descriptions

 

Thinking about trying a class but not sure what its all about? Below please find a description of the class types. If you need further information about a particular class please ask the staff, any of the instructors or the group fitness director at any location. They are all more than happy to help and make suggestions.

Barre: Barre classes mix elements of Pilates, dance, yoga and functional training, and the moves are choreographed to motivating music. In each energizing and targeted workout, you’ll use the barre along with other exercise equipment to sculpt, slim and stretch your entire body.

BodyPump: The original barbell class that strengthens your entire body. This 60 minute workout challenges all your major muscle groups by using the best weight room excercises like squats, presses, lifts and curls. Great music, awesome instructors and your choice of weight inspire you to get the results you came for – and fast!

BodyPump 101: A slower paced introduction to BodyPump. If you’re not sure your ready for the full class this is the place to start.

Body Blast: Pure muscle sculpting! Incorporating body bars, excerbands and/or dumbbells. Gain lean muscle, burn fat and increase metabolism.

Body Blast Express: A 30 minute version of our Body Blast class.

Boot Camp: Training camp style drills coached by a certified instructor will guarantee you a safe and effective workout. Now drop and give me 20!

Booty Barre: A fun unique high energy class. It fuses legendary fitness techniques from Pilates, Dance, Yoga, and Calisthenics. You will streamline, firm, tighten, and tone your entire body without adding bulk. You will also create balance, posture, body awareness, flexibility, as well as cardiovascular endurance

Cardio Blast: A heart pumping cardio workout mixed with intervals of muscle conditioning using weights, bands, bars and even jump ropes.

Cardio Combo: Intervals of varied cardiovascular work with focus on abdominals and core training.

Cardio Kick: A high intensity, cardio class featuring time tested Kick-Boxing moves. Give this one a try if your looking for something different.

Core Crusher: 25 minutes of awesome abs!

Core Fit: Sculpt a strong core with the moves using a bench, exertubes, free weights and resistance balls.

Fitness For All: Geared toward our 55+ members with a mixture of stretching, low impact aerobics and weight training for strong bodies.

Gentle Yoga: Same class structure as our Yoga class but just a little slower paced for the beginner.

Hi-Lo: Cardio training with lots of low impact moves. Excellent for fat burning with minimal impact on knees and joints.

H.I.I.T:  A High Intensity Interval Training (H.I.I.T.) class utilizing the barbell to add weight training to the mix. Get your heart pumping while burning max calories. Combine this fast paced class with hit music and you won’t want to stop this workout!

Hustle & Bustle: A class consisting of intervals of muscle conditioning (dumbbells, excer-bands) and cardio training incorporating the steps and risers. A fun way to burn calories.

Insanity:  A revolutionary cardio-based total body conditioning program based on the principles of MAX Interval Training. By using MAX Interval Training, INSANITY pushes the participant to new training heights, resulting in more calories burned, faster results, and a more efficient metabolism. INSANITY’s interval training is the pinnacle of cardio training.

Keiser Cycling:  An indoor cycling class featuring hills, jumps and sprints. An intense ride, guaranteed to get your heart racing! Reservations Recommended.

Payton Karate: This class is a private program run by John Payton and has an extra fee. Students range from teens to adults. For information please consult John Payton or ask any of the staff.

Piloxing: Come try the latest Hollywood fitness craze. Piloxing uniquely blends the power, speed and agility of boxing with the beautiful sculpting and flexibility of ballet and Pilates. It is a fat torching, muscle sculpting, core-centric interval workout, guaranteed to whip you into shape.

Pilates with Pizazz: Incorporating lengthening and strengthening with the use of the circle, weights and bands. Learn to feel all the muscles that are worked and see the improvements with your core strength, posture and your whole healthy being.

Pilates: Strengthen your core, lengthen muscles, build a strong lean body using slow controlled movements. A class for everyone.

Power Yoga: A rigorous form of yoga characterized by a flowing series of poses practiced in continual and rapid succession, otherwise known as a “Vinyasa,” while emphasizing stamina, strength and flexibility.

Pound: A full-body cardio jam session, combining light resistance with constant simulated drumming. The workout fuses cardio, Pilates, isometric movements, plyometrics and Isometric poses into a 45-minute series. Burn between 400 and 900+ calories per hour, strengthen and sculpt infrequently used muscles, and drum your way to a leaner, slimmer physique – all while rocking out to your favorite music!

Run For It: A dynamic warm-up will be followed by running intervals and strength training circuits, finishing with stretches that are targeted to improve your running performance and minimize muscle soreness.

Yoga: Stretch, Center and Sweat – you will be challenged as you gain flexibility.

Step Aerobics: Step up to a leaner body with easy to follow choreography and fun muscle shaping excercises.

Street Feet: A pure cardio, high energy hip-hop fitness class!

Sweat: Circuit training with a little bit of everything thrown in.

Tabata PlusRamp up your cardio routine with these intense intervals – 20 seconds on with 10 second rests for the first half of class; the second half of class will focus on core work and some amazing stretching to relax every muscle you just worked.  All levels welcome!

Total Muscle: A TOTAL body workout designed to build muscular strength and endurance. Sculpts your body to promote muscle definition, reduced body fat and add core strength.

50+ Fitness: Geared toward our 55+ members with a mixture of stretching, low impact aerobics and weight training for strong bodies.

30/30: 30 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes of strength training/core conditioning.

Zumba: Get in shape and have tons of fun with high energy latin infused moves. The latest craze!

Zumba Step: A new twist on Zumba adding step movements, try it.
